A critical element for growth is the ability to make a significant impact on a smaller, more focused group of people.
Especially when we have a lot of experience or expertise over a wide variety of skills we don’t want to limit ourselves, and fall into the temptation of claiming that their products or services can do everything for everyone,
We feel that in doing this, we can get more business but really what winds up happening is that people don't understand what we do or they don't understand how we can help them and so they look for that one person who has the solution to their problem.
It's essential to be intentional about what you want to be known for and how you want to position yourself as the go-to expert in solving a particular challenge.
“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done” -Steve Jobs
So, let’s go through some steps to help you narrow down that one thing you want to be known for and truly excel at.
1- First, identify your core strength or the primary solution you offer that sets you apart from others.
How do you do that?
Start by looking at what you're already offering. Look at the data. Of the products or service that you’re offering already , what is your audience most interested in? in otherwards which offer sells the most. Now that is not all you are going to look
Think about what you are passionate about, that you’re obsessed with and love doing.
2-Then, consider what people naturally come to you for.
What do your friends, family, and associates consistently ask you about or seek your advice on?
These are strong indicators of your unique strengths and the areas where you can make the biggest impact.
Next, focus all your energy on perfecting that service or product—& defining your product proposition
a)-get really good at delivering results,
b)- promoting it effectively, with a clearly articulated proposition
c)-refining your elevator pitch so it clearly communicates your value.
It needs to be rehearsed and communicated with clarity.
3. You need to define your target audience.
The more specific and targeted your audience is, the greater the likelihood that your products and services will stand out, and differentiate you from competitors.
This focused approach increases the chances of sales success and sustainable growth, as you're better positioned to meet the unique needs of your audience and deliver tailored solutions that resonate with them.
4. Build Brand Authority
Your proposition needs to be encapsulated into a compelling brand.
A brand represents the fundamental beliefs of the business, expressed visually and through words, in a way that resonates with the target audience.
It should permeate every form of communication, ensuring consistency and meaning in every interaction.
One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by building your personal brand.
By aligning your personal brand with the values and mission of your business, you create a powerful, authentic connection with your audience, making your proposition even more compelling and memorable
5. Engagement & Content Strategy
Combining engagement with the right content strategy can drive audience growth, convert followers into customers, and turn customers into brand ambassadors.
By concentrating on your one core offering or core competency, you can watch your business grow as you deeply understand and master a specific niche.
